Observations of sugar maples and tulip tree on campus, November 1, 2023

Private tree tour yesterday, for PSU student Inna, from Ukraine, who will be working during Nov. on an exhibit for the alcove downstairs at the Museum of the White Mountains. I am excited for the opportunity and collaboration- thanks to Megan Doherty, Director and Curator for facilitating. The exhibit will include PSU student poetry, art, research and cultural and historical stories about the trees.

Noticed some new features this time of year. Only the last tree, in the row of sugar maples lining the walkway in front of the alumni building, still has leaves and they aren’t even all red. Why this delay?

Also, one can see the fruit pods, nothing else, remaining on the tulip tree behind/East side of Mary Lyons.
