Marbled Salamander

Native to New Hampshire, twelve species
Secretive, they may seem like beasties
But no, part of the composition
of the spring vernal pool condition
The marbled is rare and protected
Let Fish and Game know if detected
Identified as shiny jet black
with silvery white marks on its back
In greatest need of conservation
Note these salamanders’ location
Watch for blue spotted and Jefferson
